Marion Warriors piling on the medals

Running on nine days’ rest, Marion cross-country had a strong showing at Thursday’s Halstead Invitational.

No personal records were bested, but each of the high schoolers was within range of their best times.

Heidi Grimmett medaled with a 7th place finish. She turned in a 21:33.8, the third race she finished under 22 minutes.

Colton Boudreaux finished close to his personal best, coming in at 20:19.8. He has completed three of four 5Ks in less than 20:20.

After a jump in his race-time at the last meet, Braxton Schuh brought his time back below 24 minutes, finishing 23:42.9.

Bethany Grimmett cut her time from the last meet by more than six minutes, finishing in 31:02.9. In the past four races, she has averaged a 31:33, a sizeable decrease from her 35:30 in the first race of the season.

The Warriors have captured five top-10 and three top-20 finishes.
