Marion wrestlers seize 2nd in big tournament

Staff writer

Out of 23 schools, Marion wrestlers seized second place by scoring 159 team points at a two-day tournament that ended Saturday in Halstead.

Although Marion was missing wrestlers Zac Lewman and Kyle Palic, who might have potentially scored more points for the team, coach Chad Adkins was pleased with tournament results.

“We wrestled very well,” Adkins said. “I am very proud of the way the boys represented Marion.”

Adkins was satisfied with the level of effort, intensity, and motivation his team put in to prepare for Halstead.

“I am looking forward to see where the rest of the season takes us,” he said.

Individual results

Jarrett Johnson, fourth place, 106 lbs.; Noah Albin, fourth, 113 lbs.; Bryce Shults, fifth, 120 lbs.; Ezra Darnall, fourth, 126; Remington Putter, third, 145; Luke Steele, third, 160 lbs.; Adam Janzen, second, 170 lbs.; John Nordquist, fourth, 195 lbs.; and Nick Meyer, fourth, 285 lbs.
