Maxine Svitak

Maxine Svitak, 82, died Nov. 25, 2008, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Born Dec. 28, 1925 near Antelope, she was the daughter of Fred and Alice (Hammer) Schimpf.

She married Peter Silhan Aug. 14, 1945. He died in 1950. On Oct. 5, 1953, she married Frank Svitak. He died in 1995.

Maxine and Frank lived in Pilsen. They owned and operated a grocery store and service station, and the Starlight Ballroom.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William Schimpf, and one sister, Betty Jean Riedy.

Survivors include two sons, Terry and Kathy Silhan and Frank Lee Svitak, all of Pilsen; one sister, Cristy and Wes Hiebert of Newton; one brother, George Schimpf of Peabody; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The Rosary was Nov. 28 at Zeiner Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was Saturday morning at St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.

Burial was at Pilsen Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with the Father Kapaun Guild in care of the funeral home.
