Melinda Gaines

Melinda Gaines, 63, Cassoday, died March 28 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Dec. 8, 1946, in Wichita to Jim and Verla Gardner, she was married May 25, 1974, to Herb Gaines in Peabody.

She received a masters degree from Wichita State University and taught school in Peabody. Later she was a special education teacher for El Dorado High School.

Two sons, R.J. and Bo; a brother; and her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband and a brother.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church and interment following at Summit United Methodist Cemetery near Burns.

Memorials may be made to the Melinda Gaines Scholarship Fund in care of Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
