Everybody laughs when some farmer hauls an auto back to town with his team. It is an old joke now but it always draws the laugh. This joke will work both ways, however, and Dr. Marner proved it a few days ago by doing a little hauling with his auto for a farmer whose troubles were temporarily centered in a broken wagon. This also is a good time to laugh.

A new gasoline lighting plant was put in at the rooms of the business men’s club yesterday. The rooms are beautifully lighted now and the members feel greatly relieved over the improvement.

It is reported that a large new flour mill will soon be erected at Durham.

Henry King has bought one of the little white Buicks of the Marion Motor Car Co., and W.H. Carpenter has traded in his E.M.F. Studebaker on a No. 27 Buick.

How many of you can remember when Chas. W. Thompson was the candy—and peanut—kid on the Santa Fe passenger train running through Marion? That was in 1880 and Charlie was mighty proud of the success he made of his first business venture.

The Marion high school foot ball team went over to Newton a few weeks ago and beat the Newton boys clear out of sight. It was a great game. Friday afternoon the Newton boys will be here for a return game. The people of Marion should turn out to this game and inspire our boys to victory. ’Rah for Marion.

Beginning Sunday the Rock Island will run a fast through train between Kansas City and Ft. Worth. It will stop at only a few of the bigger places and Marion is not included in the list of stop. But, the new train will have to stop here just the same on account of the Santa Fe crossing.
