I.E. Myers who is always a booster for Marion and Marion institutions says that while he was in Kansas City last week he had occasion to visit seven or eight of the leading garages and that he only found one that was equipped as well as the Marion Motor Car Co. is fixed. He says that he didn’t realize until he made this trip how well the Marion automobile houses are fixed. Whether you are going to buy an automobile or not you ought to appreciate the town’s institutions along this line.

A fine line of rings, chains, fobs and lockets at Sheldon’s.

Fred Frobenius is doing a land office business these days. He has just shipped a carload of trimmed stone to Canton, got in a car of famous Bedford stone, put up a $500 monument in the cemetery at Ramona and placed one of the finest monuments in Highland cemetery on the P.F. Jones lot. Mr. Frobenius keeps several men employed all the time and his establishment is a credit to the city.

I will sell at the Costello building the best winter apples that have been in town this fall at $1.25 per bushel this week and next. J.I. Crook.

Several men and boys in the Elk community tried their skill at crow hunting Thanksgiving night and succeeded in killing a good many. Five of the party brought back 56 heads. The rest did not report but also killed a large number. This is a good way to rid the neighborhood of these pests.

There will be a box social at the Beauty of the West schoolhouse on the night of December 3. It is requested that all the boxes be trimmed. Everybody invited.

F.J. Funk and C.E. Pierce were among those offering prizes at the Farmers’ Institute—the former offering a rocking chair and the latter a sack of flour. Now Mrs. Funk and Mrs. Pierce were among the number who entered the friendly contest, and it so happened that the two prizes mentioned were placed in the class of articles in which they made entries. And, it further happened that Mrs. Funk won the prize of Mr. Funk’s rocking chair and Mrs. Pierce won Mr. Pierce’s sack of flour.
