The Masons have at last moved into their fine new temple at the northwest corner of Main and Fourth. The first meeting of the lodge in the new temple was held Friday night, but the formal dedication and banquet will be deferred until after the holiday season.

The fine new Mennonite Brethren church at Hillsboro was dedicated last Sunday and a crowd estimated at 6,000 was in attendance. The building cost $13,000 and was dedicated without a cent of debt upon it.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Jake Barrett on Sunday, Dec. 4, a daughter. All are doing well, except Jake, and he will survive.

There will be an oyster supper at the Clark schoolhouse Friday evening by the Sunday school. Everybody invited.

The county commissioners met on Monday as a board of health. Accompanied by sheriff-elect Slaymaker they inspected the jail and ordered some repairs to be made there.

Mr. J.A. Lintun of Council Grove is here and in charge of Magathan’s new candy factory. Mr. Lintun has had 30 years experience and only the very purest and best candies will be made. The work will be done at Magathan’s bakery.

Mechanics are busy preparing the interior of the Dean building for Hereford’s pharmacy and Richardson Bros. grocery. Fred Lewis is estimating the expense of putting in a corner entrance for the pharmacy and if it doesn’t cost too much, the change will probably be made at once.

E. Elliott, who is at present manager of the Healea pool hall, has been granted a license to operate a hall and billiard tables in the Thompson building on Third street.

Fred Lewis has returned from Topeka where he spent several months as inspector of the work on the new G.A.R. Memorial building.
