On The Move
All the past week the Record establishment has been moving to its new home opposite the courthouse. May we be pardoned for remarking that it is something of a job to move such a plant as the Record’s and get things in order again But order is beginning to show up again, and by next week the wheels—all kinds— will be grinding again. All this by way of getting ready to say that in the mix-up we have had to slight the paper considerably this week—of course you noticed it. But gentle ones—be as gentle as you can under the circumstances. And, by the way, don’t forget to drop in and let us “show you around.” Feelin’ good, thank you.
New Blacksmith Shop
Messrs. C.W. Phillips and Jesse Allen have formed a partnership and have already begun the erection of a stone blacksmith shop just west of Freeland Bros. veterinary hospital. Walter Sharp has the contract for the new building, which will be 25x60 feet. Both members of the firm are well known here and Mr. Phillips is now conducting a well-established business in a shop opposite the location of the new building. Mr. Allen has been farming for a year or so but will move his family to town as soon as the new shop is ready.
Hatters
The Stetson Hatters are in town. Opposite the P.O. Old hats made new. Hats cleaned, blocked and re-trimmed by expert hatters direct from the factory. Panamas a specialty.
At a meeting of the W.C.T.U. last week, the following officers were elected for the coming ear: President, Mrs. L.F. Keller; treasurer, Mrs. A.E. Case; recording secretary, Mrs. Robert Robbins; corresponding secretary, Mrs. James Hoch. The Union now has fifty-six pledged members and in a number of the departments much good work was done the past year. The Union resolved upon still greater activity for this year—the holding of mothers’ meetings, assistance to the clubs in caring for the Park, and in the matter of law enforcement, especially the anti-cigarette and the curfew laws.
Alfred Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hett, has had a pretty serious time of it with appendicitis. An operation was performed several days ago and at the present writing, the lad is out of danger and slowly regaining strength.
