Donald Braley

Little Donald Braley, aged about one year, was taken away from the home of his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Braley, on Saturday and carried to the brighter home above. Death was caused by pneumonia. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Ward officiating. Donald was a sweet little flower, too tender to stay beneath the world’s chilly blast and he has withered away. The Record extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

Gail Umberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Umberger of the Elk community, accidentally shot himself through the left arm last week while putting his gun in a wagon. The wound is in the upper part of the arm and the muscles are torn apart. While it is a bad flesh wound, it is not serious and he is getting along nicely at this writing.

H.H. Harter of Grant township is one of the Record’s oldest subscribers. He has been taking the “old thing” ever since it was published by Jim Murphy in the little room over the old Costello store. Mr. Harter and his estimable wife are still living on the farm where they located in 1872 and they are content to remain there. The Record wishes these fine old people many more years of happiness and prosperity together.

Found last Saturday: a gent’s purse containing some money. Call for same at the Red Cross Pharmacy.

There will be a shooting match at W.W. Suffield’s place 1 mile west and three and a half miles south of Marion Nov. 22 at 1 o’clock.

W.C. Mayes has been improving his feed store rooms, putting in a concrete floor in the back room, putting in new bins and otherwise refitting the inside of the building.
