In District Court

In the case of J.C. Watson against Jerry Forney—a case arising out of a dispute concerning the taking of ice from the river on Mr. Watson’s place—the Judge sustained a demurrer to most of the items of damage claimed and the jury awarded the plaintiff fifteen dollars attorney’s fee for a previous case. The plaintiff had recovered damages in a previous case and the court held that he was barred from further recovery at this time.

The net proceeds from the home talent play given two nights last week was $306, of which half went to the director and the other half to the Priscilla Club. The club appropriated $100 to the running expenses of the City Library and the remaining $53 they will use for the library. A large table and chairs that will match the Mission bookcases, which the club has before purchased for the library, will be bought. This is a fine use of the money and the club deserves the appreciation of the town.

Mrs. C.C. McCormac left the first of the week for Kansas City to look up the millinery fashions for the coming season and lay in her new stock of goods.

Misses Fern and Dorothy Pollitt returned last week from a several weeks’ visit with their uncle, E.M. Cherrington and family at St. Joseph, Missouri.

A piece of flannel dampened with Chamberlain’s Liniment and bound on to the affected parts is superior to any plaster. When troubled with lame back or pains in the side of chest, give it a trial, and you are certain to be more than pleased with the prompt relief which it affords. Sold by all dealers.

Speaking of the Woman’s Suffrage proposition that is to be submitted to the voters, the humor of the situation does not escape you. Only the men are to be permitted to vote on the question of whether women shall have the right to vote. Or is that humor?
