The western manager for the Redpath Bureau—which is to put on the course again this year—has promised to come personally to arrange for the course and says that in view of the way the town performed last year he is going to give it the best there is in the shop. Before he left for Washington state the other day, Major Tom Bown left with A.E. Case an old revolver to be given with his compliments of Tom Reed. And this is the why of it: When Tom Reed came to Marion forty years ago he was told that he ought to bring a revolver with him as this was a wild and woolly country and he might need it in his business. So, he stopped in Kansas City and bought the gun. When he got here, he found that it wasn’t so bad as it had been pictured to him and that he had little need for the weapon. So, he traded it to Tom Bown for a city lot. And, Major Bown has had it all these years. And, it looks as though it had been used mighty little. Probably Major had almost forgotten he had it until he went to gather up things in getting ready to leave.
Governor Hoch returned from his lecture tour last Thursday and expects to be at home for a month or two before leaving on another trip. He has been away since the first of October.
