The local Chautauqua committee has received word from the Bureau that William Jennings Bryan will appear on the Chautauqua program here on July 25. And, of course, the fact that Bryan will at that time be appearing as the Democratic candidate for President will not hurt the attendance at the Chautauqua.

The teachers living away left for their homes the past week—all except Prof. Jones who will teach here during the Institute.

John Bitner has a Langehan hen which laid an egg the other day that is a wonder. It is as large as a goose egg, 7 x 9 inches in circumference, and inside of the perfect shell is a smaller but well developed egg, of the usual size. That hen had a right to cackle.

Twenty-five or thirty Marion fellows went out in autos yesterday morning armed with shovels, picks, dinner pails and dyed-in-the-wool enthusiasm to work on the road north from town. And They Worked! Several farmers of the neighborhood were also out with teams and a grader and a whole lot of improvement was made on the road between here and Lincolnville. Most of the work was done just north of the Pratt place where holes were filled and bad places fixed all along the road.
