Petitions for the formation of a Drainage District have been circulated the past week and if sufficient signers are secured the matter will be pushed right along.

Rev. John Sievers and family moved last week into their new home next to the new German Baptist church.

The Marion company has been mustered in about seven weeks but no money has come yet to pay the boys nor has any money come to pay the restaurant man who has been feeding them or to pay any of the other expenses incurred. But Uncle Sam is sure pay and no one is worrying—just getting very willing to have the money arrive.

Prof. Joseph Bragers’ class in violin is meeting regularly now in Marion and a few more pupils can be accommodated. Prof. Bragers conducted a class here last winter and his pupils gave a splendid recital, showing the fine progress they had made.

Paul Shahan is clerking at Walker Bros. store.

Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Foust have sold their store to Mr. Howard C. Mullen of Paola. The sale was about as much of a surprise to them as to their friends. They had had no idea of selling but were asked to put a price on the business, which they did, and the sale resulted. They have built up a splendid business here. Marion people will sincerely regret to lose this excellent family.
