The Brotherhood had a most interesting—and at times, somewhat exciting meeting—last Monday evening. The subject was “A League of Nations.” Some were red hot for it, some dead against it and some “open to conviction.”

At the annual meeting of the stockholders of Marion National Bank, the old officers were re-elected for the coming year. They are J.F. Whaley, president; D.D. McIntosh, vice president; A.E. Hawkinson, cashier; Walter Siebert, assistant cashier; and G. H. Lilley, assistant cashier. The Board of Directors consists of J.F. Whaley, D.D. McIntosh, Geo. Stenzel, A.E. Hawkinson, Walter Siebert, and O.E. Hawkinson.

R.S. Janzen has been elected manager of the Mutual Telephone Co. to take the place of Earl L. Magathan, who has resigned.

M.V. Lewis and L.R. Read of Emporia have purchased the James Newlin store at Aulne. They have a store at Emporia and one at Galva. Mr. Lewis will have charge of the store at Aulne while Mr. Read will remain in Emporia.
