The new fire truck got its first chance to serve the community when fire was reported at the Henry Sallee home a mile north of town at 1:45 this afternoon. The truck was at the place within five minutes and extinguished the fire in a short time.

Last Saturday was the anniversary of the burning of Marion’s opera house which caused one death and serious injury to several other persons.

Did you know that the elder Thompson, of the Thompson undertaking firm, is one of Marion’s most successful nimrods? He shot five rabbits on the run last week without a miss. Which one of you young fellows can beat that record?

Marion Stauffer was one of the men at the State Agricultural College who was awarded the varsity letter in football this season.

Frank Firebaugh was in Kansas City the first of the week with a shipment of 170 head of hogs, the largest shipment from here for some time.

Rosse Case, who should know better, parked his flivver too close to a fire plug the other day and received a notice to appear in police court. And being a resident of the town and supposed to know the rules here he was fined a couple of dollars. And he kinda enjoyed it.

There will be a free show at the Garden on Christmas day at 10:30 for the children. “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” is the picture and is a good one for the little folks. Admission will be by ticket but tickets will be given out free with children’s tickets bought at the regular show between now and that time.
