Home to Stay

Morton Bown, one of Marion County’s very best mechanics, wishes to announce that he has come home to stay and that the experience he has had in his line of work since he left Marion four years ago, enables him to do all kinds of painting, papering, stenciling, tinting or anything in the way of inside or outside decoration. With him no job is too small to be appreciated or too large for his capacity. Mr. Bown is also prepared to do carriage painting. Phone No. 30 will reach him.

Social at Bixler Schoolhouse

A social will be held at Bixler schoolhouse next Wednesday evening, August 12, to which a cordial invitation is extended.

Rosse Case has always been an advocate of patronizing the home dealer and in line with that idea recently purchased an elegant Ivers & Pond piano of the largest size from V.E. Healea & Co.

The Presbyterian Sunday school had a fine time at their picnic Wednesday down at Ehrlich’s mill. The attendance was good.

Three companies of the Sixteenth Regular Infantry from Little Rock, Arkansas, Maj. J.K. Thompson in command, arrived in Marion Sunday afternoon and went into camp on the ball grounds, remaining until Tuesday morning. The boys were on their way to the drill grounds at Ft. Riley. They were in good health, only a few of them were under the doctor’s care and this for sore feet. The boys had been treated nicely by the people along their line of march and they speak well of Kansas.

Wood & Bown have the finest line of lunch goods in town. Something already cooked, that’s what we mean. Phone 30.

The Fats and Leans ball game on Wednesday evening netted $3 to the Park bridge fund. Score 15 to 11 in favor of the Fats. The latter object to having to play amateurs.
