Marion County intends to buy the solid waste transfer station in Marion for $825,000. The cost will include the building and related equipment, as well as any outstanding payments which KC Development had billed the county.

Seven new stained-glass windows have been installed in the sanctuary of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion, and will be dedicated Sunday.

Marion High School will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon to formally dedicate the track at Marion Stadium. Constructed in early 2001, the track is recognized as one of the best in the state. It provides a clear view of all events and has a modernized rubberized surface.

Births announced in the issue include Luke William Dawson, son of Troy and Brenda Dawson of Marion, on March 29, Kyle Thomas Ensz, son of Diann and Tom Ensz of Laredo, Texas, on March 31, and Lillian Costello Lundy, daughter of Bill and Mickey Lundy of Marion, also on March 31.

Kirk Hansen, seventh grader at Marion Middle School, and Tad Remy, an eighth grader at Centre Junior High, will compete Friday in the National Geographic Bee, sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

Voters in Marion selected Larry McLain as finance commissioner Tuesday. He received 227 votes. Keith Collett received 162.
