The bronze statue of Chaplain Emil J. Kapaun, the work of Daniel Hunt, assistance professor of art at Kansas State University, will be dedicated June 3 on the grounds of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.
Rebecca Ediger, formerly of Peabody and Marion, is in charge of the Presidential Protective Division of the United States Secret Service. In her new position, Ediger will have oversight of the agents and officers of the White House Security Branch.
Tampa State Bank will be celebrating its 100th birthday on Feb. 19.
Marion High School will hold its Queen of Courts ceremonies Friday. Candidates are Merissa Riggs, Melissa Moffitt, and Sara Zogelman. King candidates are Blake Conyers, Ryan Thomas, and Chris Byer.
Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall, a native of Marion, is the new president of the National Association of Attorneys General. She is a graduate of Marion High School and the daughter of Carl and Juanita Stovall of Marion.
Births announce this week include a daughter, Emma Brianne, born Dec. 26 to Brian and Stacy Dannenfelser of Kingwood, Texas; a son, Carter Swede-Thomas Holub, born Jan. 17 to Matt and Jill Holub of Paola; and a son, Devin Hunter, born Jan. 26 to Michel and Sherry Soyez of Marion.
