Voters in the city of Marion voted Tuesday to approve a three-quarter-cent sales tax to be used to extend utilities to Batt Industrial Park. They also elected Eloise Mueller at the next mayor.

St. Luke Hospital Administrator Craig Hanson will resign June 1. He plans to seek new challenges after 14 years serving as administrator at St. Luke and six years at a hospital in Nebraska

Marion Middle School eighth grade Quiz Bowl team won the Cottonwood Valley Junior League title last month. Members of the team were Molly Rhodes, Eric Steiner, Dale Vogel, Trevor Jones, and Whitney Wear.

Jessica Gilbert of Ramona has launched a program called La Petit Chef Bistro. With the help of her sister, Pat Wick, and local youngsters, she is planning several events, which feature French cuisine. The first such event took place Saturday in Cousins’ Corner, one of the Ramona homes, which was bought and remodeled by the two sisters.

Marion High School won the CVL forensics title March 27. Team members were Mark Hanson, Matt Schuler, Andrew Brookens, Renae Lundgren, Becky Taylor, Meredith Moore, Andrea Diaz, Justin Brookens, Andrea Hendricks, Chris Byer, Sarah Davidson, Josh Fruechting, Megan Whitaker, Joe Svitak, Emmy Bowers, Tim Schuler, Ashley Keezer, and Eric Voelker.
