Winds up to 65 miles per hour and greater whipped through the area April 11, damaging sheds, roofs, antennas, and power lines. Meteorologists reported high winds across the state, with blizzard and closed roads in western Kansas.
The former Carlsons’ Grocery has been renovated extensively inside and out. Jim Cloutier, owner, says the next step will be to remove the concrete parking lot to establish grass and plants as part of an extensive landscaping project.
Troy Walker, business manager at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center, will serve as interim administrator starting in June. Walker will serve in that capacity until a full-time administrator is named.
Friends and family of former Marion resident Dorothy Rindt of Wichita helped celebrate her 70th birthday April 1 with a surprise party at the Care Coordination Teams’ food pantry in Wichita. Hosts for the event were Debi Kreutzman and Lisa Anderson of Wichita and Bruce Winkler of Marion.
David Bowers drove a busload of Hilltop Manor residents to Exploration Place in Wichita Tuesday. Residents going were Jane Makovec, Ella Winter, Alvina Pagel, Ruth Davis, Alice Seibel, Elsie Reiswig, Olinda Klein, and Marie Kusnefsky.
Parents at Marion Elementary School are asked to contact the school if they are interested in a “spend a night at the school” activity.
