Cleanup Week in Marion exceeded expectations, collecting almost 77 tons of trash and limbs, officials said Monday. Crews collected 46 dump truck loads of wood and 26 dump truck loads of appliances, as well as additional loads of regular trash.

Mary Ann’s Pre-School will hold its final May celebration picnic May 17. After 56 years of childcare, Mary Ann Wiens is retiring.

Students of Anita Hancock held a recital Sunday in Marion Municipal Building. Those performing included Adam Svoboda, Mitchell Leppke, Ben Leppke, Randy Carlson, Kara Druse, Melissa Carlson, Annie Whitaker, Camille Christensen, Shayla Rahe, Sara Zogelman, Sarah Lowry, Hannah Eis, Becky Tharp, Emily Davis, Cathy Whitaker, Molly Rhodes, Carla Carlson, Jessica Carlson, and Nikki Johnson.

Ann Buckendahl, daughter of George and Patsy Waner of Marion, has been named as one of the “40 Under 40” by the Wichita Business Journal. Buckendahl is vice president of marketing for Heartspring. She has been with the organization since 1991.

More than 150 students will spend Friday night at Marion Elementary School at a student sleepover. The sleepover will feature pizza, team-building challenges, and a few wild animals.
