Construction was completed May 23 when the marker for the time capsule was replaced in front of the Marion Historical Museum. The capsule was moved slightly forward when the bell from the former church was mounted in front of the museum.

Ethan Robert Good has accepted a position with Honeywell Corporation at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Good is the son of Robert and JoAnn Good of Marion and grandson of Bula Good of Marion and Josephine Frick of Durham.

The Hayen family is hosting a reunion of school Districts 9, 54, 56, and Youngtown June 10 at the Marion Senior Center.

Owners of 10 historic homes in Marion are receiving designation plaques from the Marion Preservation Committee. Homes recognized include the R.C. Coble original home at 129 N. Lincoln; William Kellison home, 202 E. Santa Fe; E.R. Trenner home, 222 S. Lincoln; H.S. Willard, 404 E. Santa Fe; E.W. Hoch, 206 N. Lincoln; L.F. Keller, 304 N. Locust; William Dudley, 204 N. Locust; J.W. Moore, 301 E. Santa Fe; W.R. Carpenter, 500 N. Third; and Isaac Good, 115 Elm.

Braxton Skiles won his second straight Class 3A triple jump title at the Kansas State High School track meet held May 25 and 26 at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Senior Citizens of Marion County has received about $28,714 from the estate of Nancy H. Reynolds, an educator and researcher who did most of her work in Marion County.
