Marion City Commission on Monday approved a resolution to establish a recreation commission. The ultimate goal would be to end funding through the city and the school district and fund it through a district-wide mill levy.

Sarah Versch and Heather Tajchman received St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary scholarships Thursday. The auxiliary has contributed almost $60,000 in scholarships and materials for St. Luke Hospital and Living Center since 1972, when the auxiliary was founded.
Marion County Treasurer Jeannine Bateman graduated in May from the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.
“Robin Hood” will be performed June 21 and 22 at Marion Municipal Auditorium by REC Children’s Summer Theater. The part of Robin Hood will be played by Michael Brookens with Thad Nichols, Dustin Steele, and Kirk Hansen appearing as Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, and Little John, respectively.
Lauren McLinden, 5, daughter of Chuck and Lori McLinden of Marion, has been selected as a state finalist in the Miss Kansas American Coed Pageant to be held in July at the Overland Park Marriott.
