Jack and Ella Swain are pictured on the front page as they polish Nodie Baker’s tuba at Marion Historical Museum. The tuba probably dates from the 1800s. Baker played it in the Rube Band of Marion’s Old Settlers’ Day parade for decades.

The popular country rock band Cactus Jack entertained an appreciative audience of more than 700 attending the annual hog roast sponsored by the Tampa State Bank Saturday.

A Labor Day weekend fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. Sunday at Marion County Park and Lake. The display is sponsored by the Marion County Commission and the Marion County Economical Development Council.

An informal get-together was held July 30 at the home of Norma (Nice) Kline. Some members of the MHS graduating class of 1962 met for a visit with one of their classmates, Dale Bernhardt, who was in town at that time. Those present were Constance Fisher, Bill Goentzel, Rocky Hett, Deanna Klenda, Larry and Doris Maltbie, Larry Stewart, Georgie Vogel, Carol Woerz, and Dale and Susie Bernhardt.
