Tuesday’s attack on America will go down as the most dastardly. The nation came under siege from an unknown enemy. There’s no doubt that it was and is the darkest hour of recorded history.

A reception is planned for Old Settlers’ Day to honor Mary Ann Wiens who retired last spring after serving the community with a pre-school for nearly half a century.

David Tharp and Stephanie Jensen won the Marion High School FFA barnyard olympics held Sept. 4 as part of the Florence Labor Day celebration. Placing second in the boys’ division was Steven Waner. Jordan Trapp was third. LeAnn Thomas was second in the girl’s division, followed by Allison Wegerer.

About 250 exhibitors are expected Saturday at Art in the Park in Marion.

A rash of unrelated incidents has put six Marion Elementary School students in casts. The left arm seems to be the most popular location for injury. Those with injuries are Adam Hett (motorcycle), Randy Carlson (skateboard), Jessica Leith (football stadium), Brandon Meierhoff (monkey bars), Kaylyn Spencer (gymnastics), and Teka Pardue, scooter.
