The first baby of 2000 arrived Jan. 11 at St. Luke Hospital. Tristan Larry Swarey, son of Kevin and Joetta Swarey, Burns, was born at 11:54 a.m. He is their first child.
Plans for the restoration of the historic spring in Central Park were presented to the Marion City Commission Monday and met with enthusiastic approval.
Tim Shuler won the Marion Middle School spelling bee Monday. Michelle Miesse was second. They will compete Feb.10 in the county spelling bee in Marion Municipal Auditorium. Chelsea Zeiner will attend as school alternate. All are eighth graders.
Following a decision Monday by the Florence City Council, a major study is planned to determine the source and catchment area of the Florence City Spring.
