Marion Manufacturing, Inc. has received an $11,649 Kansas Industrial Retraining grant to help retain employees. The grant will be used to train 11 employees on new computerized machines and manufacturing software. The company is matching the grant.

Marionite Sarah Powell, transplanted to Arizona, upheld the honor and glory of her native state recently when she won a race during the 16th annual Senior Olympics held at Tucson. Not only did she win the race, Sarah also was selected to light the flame that started the Olympic Games.

Sarah Davidson won the Marion County Spelling Bee Thursday. Justin Garrard, a student at Centre Junior High School was second. Rachel Davidson was third. Sarah and Rachel are home-schooled.

Construction on a radiology addition starts this week at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center. Construction costs of $242,652 will be paid for with existing savings. There will be no debt incurred through construction.
