Stones from a historic bridge will be available to the City of Marion for improvement projects, county commissioners said Friday at the end of this month’s meeting. The stones come from a century old bridge and were saved intact at the request of Harry Bennett of Marion because of their age and handcrafted quality.

“A Child at Play,” the Gino Salerno sculpture in Central Park, was re-installed this past week. It was removed by city crews due to insect damage and repainted by the Marion High School art classes.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during March included Joshua Earl Johnson, March 8; Shelby Rae Wilhelm, March 16; Haley Lavona Plenert, March 19; and Taylor Jo Huston, March 24.

Christopher Smith has accepted a management position with Banner Health Colorado at Greeley, Colo. He is the son of Jerry and Lois Smith of Marion.

Sgt. Garry Klose of the Marion Police Department was recognized Monday by the Marion City Commission as “employee of the quarter” for the first three months of 2000.
