Country singer Jaime Leigh will perform July 1 in Central Park. The entertainer, from El Dorado, won the True Value/Jimmy Dean regional showdown last year and advanced to national competition. The Central Park Summer Celebration is sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
Carrie Darrow, daughter of Debbi and Bill Darrow, left from Kansas City Sunday with a group of Kansas State University students who will spend the next six weeks in Spain.
Erin O’Dell and Marie Konarik were recognized Sunday as the top academic students from Marion High School Class of 2000. O’Dell was named valedictorian and Konarik salutatorian at commencement exercises. Other graduates recognized for academic excellence were Camille Wessel, Havilah Wilcox, Hallie Bennett, James Meier, Emily Costello, Justin Hett, Dustin Sherbert, Letitia Warner, Jim Helmer, Ewa Patajko, and Stefan Makowski.
Lucent Technologies has announced that Jim Hoch, formerly of Marion, has been promoted to the position of Director of GSM Software Development. Hoch is a son of Nadine Hoch of Marion and the late Wharton Hoch.
