Board of Education members for Marion-Florence Unified School District agreed Monday to consider a proposal for an optional all-day kindergarten class, starting next year. Shifting sixth grade to the middle school also will be discussed.

City Administrator Dennis Nichols announced at the commission’s regular weekly meeting that lower expenses and conservative budgeting suggest that City of Marion will be able to accomplish more in 2002 than originally expected.

Alexis Mustang Craney is the “Beary Special Baby,” this month at St. Luke Hospital. Alexis was born Jan. 6.

Jeff Cady and Janet Bryant are pictured examining packages of ground venison stocked at the Marion County Food Bank in Marion for emergency food aid. The nutritious meat was provided through a national program called “Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry.”

MHS junior Ashlee Pickering and sophomore Natasha White visited Central Park Monday to take pictures at Brooker Memorial Plaza and other scenic spots. They were fulfilling an assignment from Jim Versch, instructor in digital photography.

Helen Beckham, a retired teacher, shared her many experiences in running in marathons at the February meeting of Neo Century Club.
