The first mile of concrete paving on K-150 was poured this week.

Marion Middle School student Misti Richmond is one of 10 eighth grade students in the nation to be a finalist for a $20,000 scholarship through the Eddie Robinson Foundation. Three of the students will receive scholarships of $5,000 per year for four years. They must maintain good grades in high school and attend college to receive the scholarships.

Jim Donahue of rural Marion provided a team of horses and Conestoga wagon Thursday for children of Cottonwood Grove Christian School. The ride provided an authentic culmination of the students’ study of Oregon Trail. Glennon Crowthers of Durham was driver on the trip.

Marion Skate Park is much closer to construction than anticipated. Instead of approximately $10,000 cost for the geometric ramps, Marion Manufacturing will provide them for about $4,000.

Sixty students participated in the District 6 Kansas Music Teachers Association Music Progressions April 20 at Hesston. Students participating were Sarah and Rachel Davidson, Peter Bartel, Charles Stuchlik, Aubrey Meier, Aaron Bina, Jessica Bernhardt, Jessica and Jaclynn DeForest, and Ethan Riggs.

Tampa Lions Club members were hosts Sunday evening at a charter night banquet for the newly formed Centre High School Leo Club.
