A ribbon cutting will be held Tuesday to celebrate completion of Phase 1 of Batt Industrial Park. Guest speaker is Lt. Gov. Gary Sherrer.

The annual Relay for Life fund-raising was held Saturday at the Marion High School track. There were more than 1,100 luminaries lighted around the track.

Gene and Marge Christensen and their family spent Thursday to Sunday in Branson, Mo., in celebration of the Christensen’s 45th wedding anniversary.

St. Luke Hospital presented scholarships Thursday to Melissa Moffitt and Aminda Brunner. Both are studying nursing.

Three local boys represented the Marion American Legion post at Boys’ State last week in Manhattan. They are Zachary Ewert, son of Gary and Elaine Ewert, Joel Versch, son of Jim and Judy Versch, and Brian Bina, son of Laverne and Harriet Bina.

Austin Pederson, Brody Carroll, and Jacob Harper are pictured with Bob Hernandez of Wichita inspecting his radio-controlled plane at the Newton area Radio-Control Club fun fly event held Saturday at the Marion Airport.

An all-species fishing tournament is scheduled Sunday at Marion Reservoir.
