David Brazil, county sanitarian, supervised the excavation Friday of the cistern found near the courthouse in August. The cistern’s contents included car tags, election ballots, other documents and things, and hundreds of syringes. The items will be placed in a particular part of Hamm landfill and contents labeled.
Clayton and Wanda Hamm of Marion will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Kansas City over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The Community Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsored by the Marion Ministerial Alliance, will be held Thanksgiving Day at the Marion Middle School/Marion High School Commons.
Pictured is Art Davis, Schwan salesman in the Marion area, as he received a check for $100,000 Saturday from the Kansas Lottery. Davis purchased the winning ticket from Ampride in Marion.
Marion High School students will perform “The Wizard of Oz” Friday and Saturday at the city auditorium. Justin Brookens portrays the scarecrow, Joe Svitak, the cowardly lion, Tim Schuler, the tin woodsman, and Chelsea Arnhold is Dorothy.
The annual Marion Christmas Home Tours will be Nov. 30. Homes available for touring will be those of Roger and Sally Hannaford, Janet and Chris Killough, and Karen and Mike Regnier.
