Despite chances of rain throughout the weekend, Chingawassa Days festival-goers packed Central Park and downtown Marion. Headline act, Little River Band, played to an appreciative crowd Saturday night and other activities and events during the weekend were well attended.

Observances of the following wedding anniversaries are reported this week: Irvin and Mildred Schroeder of Hillsboro, 60th; Terry and Ann Holt, Marion, 25th; Charles and Darlene Gutsch, Burdick, 50th; Gene and Shirley Duke, Durham, 50th; Dwayne and Delores Stroda, Herington, 50th; and Ralph and Charlene Janzen, Hillsboro, 40th.

Nickolas Hett, son of Aaron and Lanell Hett, has signed a letter of intent to play golf next fall and spring with the Friends University Falcons, Wichita.

“The Wizard of Oz,” Marion High School drama department’s fall musical, won three Jester awards May 29 during a ceremony at the Mary Jane Teall Theatre at Century II in Wichita. “The awards were for outstanding production number, outstanding smaller ensemble performance, and outstanding achievement in outstanding scenery design,” said Janet Killough, director and MHS instructor.
