A self-named “over the hills gang” reflected on their youth recently by re-visiting the vast Flint Hills prairie and enjoying lunch together at the Cassoday Café. Pictured in the group are Rex Siebert, Pat Sauble, Jim Hoy, Jack Spain, Bob Vestring, and Bill Meyer.
Senior Dale Vogel has been named Marion High School Athlete of the Week. Vogel scored 21 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had four steals Friday in Marion’s victory over Chase County. He also had nine free throws in a row, finishing the night with 9-10.
Tobe Moore of Marion and Leroy Parks of Hillsboro have been roping partners for about 15 years. They competed Oct. 31 in the U.S. Team Roping championships at Oklahoma City, finished in second place and were named reserve champions.
Jessica Bernhardt, a junior at Marion High School, will attend Presidential Class Room Scholars Program July 2-9 in Washington, D.C. Bernhardt is the daughter of Dennis and Donna Bernhardt.
Sara Houdyshell, Centre High School graduate, received a silver medal at the District V National Conference for Marketing and Public Relations in St. Louis. She was recognized for a marketing promotion she designed as a student in Butler Community College. She is the daughter of Roy and Judy Houdyshell of Lincolnville.
