A consultant spoke Monday to Marion County Commission regarding a new jail facility. The consultant will gather information for a report that will be compiled by an architect and presented to the commission in a couple of months.
Amber Richmond is this week’s Marion County Record Athlete of the Week. A senior, Richmond was chosen for her performance in a softball doubleheader sweep of Hesston.

Couples announcing they will be celebrating wedding anniversaries in the near future include Rex and Vernolis Siebert who will observe their 50th anniversary May 8, Alice and Paul Meysing, 55th anniversary, May 2, and Irvin and Edmah Boese, 50th anniversary, May 10.
Torey Hett, Marion High School senior, has been awarded the Jack Richmond Quail Unlimited Memorial Scholarship. Hett plans to attend Emporia State University and major in wildlife biology.
