More than $1,300 was raised Saturday during the third annual Marion Fire Department fundraiser. Volunteer firemen pumped fuel for Ampride for donations and wives of the firefighters had a bake sale. Marion Chamber of Commerce held a downtown promotion and firefighters provided water games for children at Liberty Park, followed with free watermelon.

Cindy Henning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey, has been named to the Wichita Business Journal’s elite 2005 Class of “40 under 40,” which represents professionals in the Wichita community under the age of 40, who are leaders in business and community.

Members of Viola Kelsey’s family attended a dinner Saturday evening at the Grand Hotel in Cottonwood Falls to help her celebrate her 80th birthday.

Steve Klenda of rural Lincolnville is recovering from injuries suffered May 10 when he was run over by his tractor and baler. He received a broken jaw and fractured thumb, right shoulder and pelvis and his right lung was punctured.
