Marion’s HRK store, which draws trade to the community from a wide area of Central Kansas, suffered a disastrous fire shortly after noon Saturday. The value of the loss is not yet known, but it was “total,” over $200,000. “We’ll be back in business,” Berniece Beach said, “Marion has been good to us.”
Ty Zeiner recently provided tours of a 1944 Stearman to 66 first grade children from Marion Elementary School. As part of the tour, Tonya Hodson let the children sit in a 1961 Cessna. The tour was part of “Things That Fly,” a program developed around the theme “Of The Places You Will Go.” This week, the children will build small boats as part of “Things That Float.”
Luella Regier and Ralph Popp were married Aug. 19, 1949, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Marion. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast.
A block party was held Sunday evening at the Bob Brookens home honoring Bud and Ray Wilcox who are moving to Port Byron, Ill., to be nearer their children.
