Carlsons’ and Marion-Florence USD 408 have started the Register Tapes for Educational Program for the 2005-2006 school year. Everyone who shops at Carlsons’ is encouraged to drop register receipts in a contest box. One percent of every dollar collected from Oct. 1 to March 30 will go toward free educational equipment for USD 408 students.

Rosy the Rhino of The County Seat is undergoing a “transformation.” According to the sign on her bandaged body, she is having an extreme makeover or a “rhino-plasty.” Good wishes go with Rosy and residents look forward to seeing her new look.

The annual Punt, Pass, Kick competition was held Sunday at Warrior Stadium. First place boy and girl winners, by age group, are 8-9 year-olds, Grif Case and Kaelyn Thierolf; 10-11, Ethan Hett, Megan Overton; 12-13, Brian Fruechting, Alex Cain; and 14-15, Ryan Jones, Tyshia Penwell.

Many people took part Sunday in Tampa’s Santa Fe Trail Fest.

Emmanuel Jackson is this week’s Marion County Record Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Jackson led the team with six solo tackles and recorded a team-high sixth sack of the season in the team’s 28-13 defeat of previously undefeated Hoisington.
