A handicapped accessible duck blind for youth was dedicated Saturday at Marion Reservoir in memory of Brian Pagenkopf. Members of Marion County Ducks Unlimited built the metal structure with funds from a trust established in memory of Pagenkopf, who was building a blind at the time of his death in October 2002 in a car accident. He was planning to put the blind at the reservoir, near French Creek Cove.

The newspaper’s weekly selection of the Athlete of the Week at Marion High School is Jeff Richmond. Richmond intercepted two passes Friday in Marion’s 33-6 district victory against Hillsboro. He also recorded four tackles and knocked down a pass at the one-yard line that would have been a Trojan touchdown.

Students and graduates of Butler County Community College of Marion’s massage therapy program donated their time Thursday afternoon to give massages to volunteers at the site of “Extreme Makeover” Home Edition near Rose Hill.

Junior Danielle Cope and senior Casey Nelson have been selected as October Marion High School students of the month. Danielle is the daughter of Clint and Sarah Cope of Florence. Casey is the son of Steve and Diane Sams and Terry and Sherry Nelson.
