Marion County Commission met is special session Friday to implement a burn ban to discourage open burning within the county because of extremely dry and windy conditions.

Announced in this issue are upcoming celebrations of the 60th weddings anniversary of Irvin and Pauline McPheeters of Peabody and the 40th anniversary of Dwight and Jane Gooding of Marion.

Marion Junior Girl Scout Troop 58 has organized a free baby-sitting service with donations received to go to benefit a fellow Girl Scout troop in Alabama.
