When Mayor Martin Tice came to the agenda item Monday regarding an ordinance to require cat registration, he made a motion not to proceed with the ordinance and move forward to other business.

The 28th annual Art in the Park and Craft Show will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16. Only those items that are truly homemade are accepted at the show.

Marion Daisy Troop #248 finished off its 2005-06 Girl Scout year by holding its final meeting in Central Park. Members of the troop are Veronika Hues, Jessi Lewman, Emma Schafers, Kourtney Hansen, Samantha Richmond, Allison Molleker, Courtney Herzet, Emily Schafers, and Haley Rowe.

A good crowd attended Sunday’s dedication of Lincolnville Community Center. The new facility replaces the Lincolnville 4-H Community Building that served the area for 30 years.

After almost three months of summer, Marion-Florence USD 408 teachers were putting finishing touches on their classrooms this past week in preparation for the 2006-2007 school year.
