Marion County Commission approved a resolution Monday that charges inmates for food, clothing, hygiene items, medical treatment, and transportation. The purpose of the charges is to reimburse the county for inmate expenses and to discourage repeat offenders.
Members of Marion Chamber of Commerce presented a first dollar of profit to Theresa Carroll, owner of TC’s What Not Shop. Presenters include Lee Leiker, Roger Hannaford III, Dick Maggard, Martin Tice, and Margo Yates.
Marion City Library is offering a new program, “Books to You,” to those Marion residents who may not be able to travel to the library.
Six wrestlers from the Marion Junior Warrior Club will compete in the state USA Kids Wrestling tournament in Topeka Saturday. They are Remington Putter, Colton Jeffrey, Colton Johnson, Kyle Palic, Zac Lewman, and Dillon Wildin.
Demolitions of Marion Municipal Pool began March 14 with the removal of the metal interior of the 50-year-old pool. The pool was showing its age and usefulness in recent years with leaks that wasted large quantities of water. Patrons of USD #408 approved the construction of a new indoor pool and gymnasium at the city site. Completion of the new pool and gym is anticipated within 18 months.
