Plans are being made for the annual community Thanksgiving dinner. A traditional dinner will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at Marion Middle/High School Commons. The event is sponsored by Marion Ministerial Alliance with assistance from community volunteers.

It is announced this week that CNA and CMA Machelle Ratzloff is the outstanding employee of the quarter at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center.

Fred and Edith Helmer will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 17 with a family dinner and a bus trip. In addition, June and Lois Jost will celebrate their 70th anniversary Oct. 26 with a reception at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

Extensive renovations at St. Mark Catholic Church of Marion are taking place. Pictured is a crane transporting building material through the front door of the church, which is part of the consolidated Holy Family Parish of Marion County. Construction began Sept. 8 and will be completed by Dec. 10.

A public forum will be held Sunday at USD 408 Performing Arts Center, Marion, to give the candidates for two positions on the board of Marion County Commission a chance to state their platforms and answer questions. Candidates are Aaron Allen, Randy Dallke, James Herzet, and Dan Holub.
