Marion County Commission discussed the possibility of obtaining a permit for a construction and demolition landfill Monday. The proposed landfill would be at the Martin Marietta Quarry owned by Rocky Hett.

Members of the Elling-Warneke families recently gathered in Denton, Texas, for the birth of a baby. Pictured is baby Victoria Ruth Elling who was born Nov. 11, great-grandmother Edith Warneke of Marion, grandmother Patricia Warneke Elling of Lebanon, Tennessee, and proud father Carl Elling III.

The first Marion Warrior basketball game in the new gym Monday belonged to the Lady Warriors. Nine players scored in the game, led by Julia Zeiner’s 20 points. The girls earned a 63-26 victory against Peabody. Senior boys Luke Gordon and Elliot Hett and juniors Eric Vogel and Isaac Hett combined to score 44 of Marion’s 46 points to Peabody’s 43 in the boys’ game.
