Brothers Howard and David Bellamy and their seven-piece band will take the stage at 9 p.m. Saturday as the Chingawassa Days’ headliner.
Julia Zeiner is one of 14 Marion High School athletes who came away with a medal this weekend at the state track and field meet in Wichita.
Zeiner had the most successful day with golds in the triple and long jumps, a silver in the 300-meter hurdles, and a fifth place medal as part of the 4/100 relay.
Nick Klenda earned a boy’s only gold medal with a personal best in the discus. Overall, Marion boys took fifth and girls took seventh.
Artist Cally Krallman of Topeka had her painting “Flint Hills Sonata” chosen from about a dozen paintings at a meeting May 27 at the Elgin Hotel, The painting will be the featured painting for this year’s Symphony in the Flint Hills.
New graduates Camille Christensen and Katie Maag received $1,000 scholarships May 23 at the 113th annual Florence alumni banquet. A total of 147 alumni, teachers, and guests from the classes of 1933 through 2009 attended.
