The Bellamy Brothers concert Saturday night at the 13th annual Chingawassa Days drew a large crowd, of nearly 2,300 people. There were an estimated 1,800 people at Friday night’s events, organizers said.
Colleen Tajchman and Camille Christensen of Marion and Seth Methvin of Peabody received $500 scholarships Thursday from St. Luke Auxiliary.
Symphony in the Flint Hills will be Saturday on a Chase County ranch near Florence. The Kansas City Symphony will perform with the picturesque Flint Hills as a backdrop.
Designated hitter Brian Fruechting of Marion and outfielder Jacob Edwards and shortstop Daniel Jost of Hillsboro were named to the first team all-league baseball team last week by the Mid-America Activities Association.
The sky above Marion Municipal Airport will be filled with planes June 20 and 21 when the eighth annual Heart of America Free-Flight Association will be held at the airport. Scale models of planes from the 1920s and 30s will launch en masse. Another mass launch will feature WWII fighter planes.
