It was like Christmas Monday evening when Marion City Council was told that the late Marion resident, Pearl Baxter, had given $5,000 to the city library and $25,000 to the city museum. This donation is in addition to $25,000 she gave anonymously to the library a number of years ago.

Marion will be the site for the production of a private film. The film company will be in Marion May 31 through June 3. The city council approved a temporary suspension of the order against discharging firearms within the city limits in order for a part of the storyline to take place.
Elementary School fifth- and sixth-graders presented the musical, “Pirates” The Musical,” May 6 in the Performing Arts Center. Adam Kjellin played the King of the High Seas.
