A common sight this past week for county residents was up to 20 inches of snow that fell in a two-day period. By today, most of the snow has melted and warmer temperatures have returned.

It was announced Monday that Brad and Anita Seacat, owners of Seacat Do It Best hardware and lumberyard in Marion will step aside and Matt Kukuk will take over as manager.

The name of the business has changed to Flint Hills Building Supply but the business will continue to be affiliated with Do It Best warehouse.

Marion High School athlete of the week is senior Jordan Versch, who posted a line of 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 5 steals Friday in the 51-43 victory over Bennington.

Donna Cady and Les Riggs were named winter homecoming queen and king during halftime of the game.

The late George Baxter was one of Marion’s aviation pioneers. He began flying between World Wars I and II. Baxter died in 1993, but his contribution to flight in Marion continues today. A gift from the estate of his late wife, Pearl, is being used to build a new pilot lounge at Marion Municipal Airport.

The country band Diamond Rio is scheduled to headline Chingawassa Days on June 4 in Central Park, Marion.

Centre High School senior Brian Burhoop scored 35 points including three 3-pointers, 6 field goals, and 4-of-4 free throws in the Cougars 63-39 victory of the Wakefield Bombers.

Adam Matz and Allison Shields were crowned winter homecoming royalty at the game.
