Prospective Easter bunnies have county rancher Mark Harms to thank for saving them from possible slavering jaws of death. Harms was clearing an area for a construction project in his family’s backyard near Lincolnville when he discovered four cottontail babies nestled inside a fluffy nest under a sheet of tin.
“The dogs would have killed them if they had found them,” wife Kim Harms said, so without touching them and leaving their scent the Harms transported them about 10 feet and plan to bottle-feed them if the momma bunny does not return.
Ryan Edmundson, who has an associate’s degree in business from Colby Community College and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Fort Hays State University, was named vice president this week of Marion National Bank.
He previously was a vice president and branch manager of a bank in Brewster.
Two retired teachers were brought back to teach vocal music and band because of the early departure of Chris Barlow.
Mike Connell was hired to teach band for the rest of the school year, and Anita Hancock will teach vocal music and guitar.
Marion City Council officially restored two-way traffic in the 100 block of N. 3rd St. with the passage Monday of Ordinance 1403.
Council members also heard complaints from neighbors of a home in the 700 block of S. Roosevelt St. with 20 chickens, four dogs often running loose, and a cluttered yard. Mayor Todd Heitschmidt promised to look into Marion’s ordinances on keep animals.
